NO MEANS NO

about

Maya Solovey has penned an incendiary takedown song about sexual harassment, in response to the recent allegations against Bill O' Reilly, Donald Trump, and countless others.

Solovey jumpstarted the social impact of by releasing it for free on her Bandcamp and Soundcloud pages for free for one week. While it is no longer available for free download, she encourages all women all over the world to listen and share it with their friends and loved ones, be they women or men.

Maya Solovey says: "I was so incensed by the recent stories in the news, during the presidential campaign, by the many others I have heard from women throughout my life, not to mention my own experience, that I felt absolutely compelled to write this song. I have made this song free to women all over the world, in solidarity with their struggles, and who have felt this outrage personally, for years and years."

The song, with its sleepy Johnny Cash-esque delivery is a natural throwback to Dolly Parton's "9 to 5". Maya Solovey wrote the song over a track by Mashti Mads Nordheim, and Peter Musebrink, while in the midst of working on a new project with Nordheim called DANSAER.

Listen and stream the song for free, either on Bandcamp or Soundcloud. Available now on all digital stores and streaming sites. For more info about Maya Solovey, visit her website, www.mayasolovey.com

lyrics

NO MEANS NO

Here we go again
I’m backed into a corner
Alone in the copy room
With this asshole with a boner
He’s making a pass
Trying to grab my ass
I’m really about to lose it
If one more jerk tries to do with me
Whatever he wants or chooses!

He knows that he’s my boss
And that he has some power over me
He knows that if I try to complain
They will try to fire me
Or they might well
Make my life hell
In this job that I worked hard for
I didn’t work to make it this far
To be taken down by a boner.

When are you gonna understand
That no really means no!
Keep it in your underpants
Cause nobody wants to know
How big and strong you think you are
But you’re really quite lame
A real man knows to respect a woman
Not treat her like a game.

Whether or not I have a man
It really shouldn’t matter
I am not playing hard to get
Or trying to climb a ladder
I came here
I worked many years
To get to where I am
And I did not come in to work
To get felt up by a man!

What is it in you
That feels the need to dominate
You are not a bee
And I am not a flower to pollinate
Is this your way
To keep me at bay
In your prehistoric power
Well get ready
To be taken down
By a “gentle little flower”.

When are you gonna understand
That no really means no!
Keep it in your underpants
Cause nobody wants to know
How big and strong you think you are
But you’re really quite lame
A real man knows to respect a woman
Not treat her like a game.
